Rocksbox xx MeganCarn

So recently, Rocksbox reached out to me and asked if I'd like to be an #RBItgirl; honestly, who wouldn't want to be called an "It Girl?!" Of course I said yes, and I'm so very glad I did. Why? Two reasons.

1) I get a code to share with everyone so that you can get a free month of Rocksbox. Guess what it is?

MEGANCARNXOXO

Go ahead, use it! You can go to the site (www.rocksbox.com) and sign up for a free month of designer jewelry with that code. You can personalize your tastes, request specific pieces... it's like a little jewelry box to choose from, and I love it because I can try expensive things before I buy them online sight unseen. If you end up loving a piece you get too much, no prob! You can buy it. YAY!!

2) I got to stage a fabulous first photo shoot with a pineapple I painted. From that pineapple, I was inspired to do a new little mixed media project, which will eventually turn into a limited edition series. Stay tuned on that! I think it will be pretty cool.

Effie also loved the pineapple, and I got this adorable picture from the experience. How cute is she?!

Happy Shopping!

Marquin Designs & Art Class Fun!

On Wednesday, May 19, I led my first class and held a trunk show in Greenville, SC! We painted a Fancy Elephant, and everyone did a great job. The trunk show was awesome, too! I was so glad to meet everyone from the upstate.

                                                                     &nbsp…

Look at all of those excellent elephants!

Two sidenotes:

Marquin, the owner of Vino and Van Gogh, is amazing. She has really created a great business that includes camps, art sales, visiting artists, jewelry classes, etc.-- and she's an artist herself! I am so glad we were able to connect. Here is her website: http://www.marquindesigns.com/

Also, because the class sold out so quickly (and because it was so much fun!) we are planning on doing another class or two in the fall. I can't wait! Details will be published at the end of July.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

May Art Crush: Juniper Briggs!

Juniper Briggs is a fabulous artist of whom I am a BIG fan. She's so talented and sweet! Juniper lives and paints from a home studio in the suburbs of Washington D.C. She is married and has two precious little girls that definitely keep her busy!

Juniper's work is bright, abstract, and so fun. She has a great eye for color + shape, and each painting has a geometric element that I love. Her paintings are organic, colorful, and aesthetically pleasing... what could be better?!

Juniper functions very similarly to me- and some other artists I know- in the way she paints her abstracts: intuitively and freely! She goes into each painting with a blank slate and works until she is happy with the piece, letting each layer dry and then adding another. The painting above is actually hanging in my house!

Juniper takes commissions, paints originals, and has a great time doing what she loves. She works under the belief that imperfection is more beautiful than perfection and that no color palette should go unpainted. (In the words of Amy Poehler... yes, please!) In addition to being a mother, wife, artist, and adventurer, Juniper blogs and collects art. She's got so many fun things going on! Find her work and contact her from her website, listed below, and follow her on Instagram! Enjoy!

A Week of Insta #giveaways!

This post will be short and sweet, and mostly informational: this week (April 12-17), I am going to be doing a week of Instagram giveaways as a "thank you" to everyone who supports, encourages, and follows my work! To everyone who pins, tweets, regrams, and features me, and has for the last year, thank you. To everyone who buys pieces in stores, pop up shops or in my online store, thank you. To anyone else I might not have covered:

You're the real MVPs!

The giveaways will be announced each day and will last for 24 hours each-- the way to enter will be different each time! On Wednesday (4/15), we'll have a BIG giveaway, and entries will be accepted until the following Sunday (4/19).

So excited to get this party going!

That time I used Pinterest... And won!

I see it all of the time on Facebook and Instagram: sad statuses, photos, and Buzzfeed lists with pictures of ideas (or recipes) that came from Pinterest, and looked like such an easy feat at the time, but turned out horribly

But Pinterest has almost always been kind to me. And it's still around, giving out recipes and crafts like candy, so it must have some success stories, right?

RIGHT!

I've made it my mission to try a number of recipes, and report my favorites back when I can! I wanted to share them with everyone as fail proof, delicious, and most of all, not disappointing. How do I choose which ones I'll try? Easy. I pick the ones that don't look like I definitely won't be able to make them.

First up:

Sun-dried tomato, mozzarella, and chicken pasta. Good gracious this one is good. I add a little bit of parmesan cheese, but that is the one and only thing I would ever change. {And it has never failed on me.}

Next on the delish list for this week:

                                                                      &nbs…

Banana-Chocolate Chip muffins. I literally buy bananas and let them get overly ripened so that I can make these muffins. Also, I've been told by three separate friends that these are some of the best muffins they've ever eaten, and one of them is from California, so he's had some pretty great muffins I'm sure.

Next new go-to:

Lasagna rollups. 1) Doesn't squish everywhere when you are trying to serve it. 2) Make them, freeze them, eat them later. 3) Make your best friends love you even more because you gave them lasagna rollups.

And, last (for now):

Crunch_Wrap_Supreme-678x1024.jpg

Homemade Crunch Wraps. These are also extremely perfect. I don't always use beef; sometimes I use frozen, shredded chicken in taco seasoning. Both are always right on point, and I go to this anytime a quesadilla just won't do the job.

Let me know which ones you try and love! I'll post a few more of these next week!

Have fun cooking, good looking!

xx
